JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
Performs a wide range of operational, maintenance, monitoring, and grounds-related duties in support of water treatment, water reclamation, and distribution systems.
SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Operate and monitor water treatment facilities, wells, towers, effluent systems, and related infrastructure both manually and through SCADA systems
- Inspect and monitor plant equipment including pumps, piping, valves, tanks, spray systems, and chemical feed systems; monitor security cameras to safeguard plant equipment and facilities; report malfunctions, unusual operations, or emergencies to supervisors or appropriate personnel
- Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and minor repairs on water treatment, potable water, effluent, and chemical feed systems
- Open and close valves, drains, and vents on potable and effluent distribution systems according to prescribed schedules or direction
- Collect, prepare, test, and analyze raw, potable, process, and effluent water samples in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements
- Inspect effluent piping and spray systems; clean or replace spray heads, straighten bent laterals, and perform minor system repairs as directed
- Maintain facility grounds by mowing, trimming, spraying vegetation, clearing brush, removing fallen trees and limbs, and performing snow and ice control
- Operate a variety of machinery and equipment including forklifts, skid steer loaders, lawn tractors, mowers, chainsaws, stump grinders, snowplows, snow blowers, and University vehicles
- Perform cleaning duties throughout facilities
- Assist Water Reclamation Plant and other Water Services personnel as needed
