AD&D

Eligibility

Regular full-time faculty and staff can purchase this coverage for themselves only, or you can include your spouse and your children. AD&D insurance provides protection against financial losses due to accidental death or accidental dismemberment. This program is administered by Unum.

Life and AD&D Certificate of Coverage

The group policy number is 292000.

During the annual open enrollment period, you may enroll in AD&D coverage without providing any medical information. The effective date of AD&D coverage is January 1st of the following year.

AD&D insurance provides protection against financial losses in the case of accidental death or dismemberment. You can choose between $10,000 and $300,000 in coverage. Family coverage is available for spouses for 60% and children (from birth through age 26) for 20% of the insured amount.

Change in Coverage

You may change your coverage amount, and/or add dependent coverage, during the annual open enrollment period or within 31 days of  having a change in family status. For details of what constitutes a change in family status, please see the Eligibility and Enrollment section within the AD&D Policy.

Conversion of Coverage

When you end your employment with Penn State, either at retirement or termination, you may convert your accidental death & dismemberment coverage to an individual policy.

You must complete an application and apply for these options within 31 days of your coverage termination.
