Peer Mentoring Program
Need a Mentor
Many mothers cite returning to work as a primary obstacle to continuing to breastfeed. The Breastfeeding Support Program at Penn State is excited to offer a new peer mentoring program to help moms manage this transition. We can pair you with an experienced breastfeeding mom in the Penn State community who can share her experiences and provide some support and guidance in combining work/student life and breastfeeding.
Are you wondering how to approach your supervisor about pumping breaks? Worried about being able to pump enough milk or how your baby will adjust to day care? A mentor has been through these same challenges. The mentoring format is informal - meet/talk as often or as little as you'd like. People in similar work environments will be paired when possible. For more information please contact the Breastfeeding Support Program at breastfeeding@psu.edu or by calling 814-867-0776.
Be a Mentor
We are always looking for moms who have been through the challenges of working and breastfeeding to provide support and guidance to our new moms. The format is informal; there is no specified time commitment. Sharing your experiences can help a new mom ease her transition back to work or class and reach her breastfeeding goals. If you think you'd like to be a mentor, please contact us at breastfeeding@psu.edu or by calling 814-867-0776.
